During an Italian friendly match, Mattia Liberali, the 19-year-old player from Milan's academy, scored a spectacular goal for Como 1907. The goal came during a mini-friendly against Villarreal CF, giving Como the lead in the match.
Liberali, who played for Catanzaro last season and recently joined Como this summer, explained his decision to join Cesc Fabregas' side over returning to Milan: 'Since the very first call with the coach, Fabregas, I immediately understood their strong interest in me and my interest in them,' he stated.
Fabregas, who is currently leading Como 1907, has been impressed by Liberali's attitude. The young player is known for his curiosity during training sessions, asking many questions to understand every detail of the game: 'Nowadays, you need to take care of every movement, both in attack and mostly in defence. I have a lot to learn, so I ask because he knows more than I do,' Liberali said.
The ambitious club with many young players aims to play good football and never give up, according to Liberali: 'Currently, the best pathway for me is the one I’ve taken.'
Liberali was also asked about his hopes of a call-up to the Italian national team under new coach Roberto Mancini. He responded by saying, 'I don’t know; it all happened in the last few hours. Now, I’m only focused on Como.'
