Analysis of Villarreal CF's Squad for the 26/27 Season
Villarreal CF will enter pre-season with most of its tasks completed, although still with several open files. The new project led by Iñigo Pérez has a fairly recognizable structure, with a large squad, several players returning from loan, and a group of players from the reserve team who may have the opportunity to work and even stay with the team.
Decision in Goal
The goalkeeping position appears to be one of the most populated areas. Villarreal CF has Luiz Júnior, Diego Conde, and Arnau Tenas, in addition to Álex Quevedo, who returns from loan and becomes the 4th goalkeeper in the initial squad composition.
Versatility in Defense
In defense, the Submarine presents a mix of established players, young players, and versatile profiles. On the right flank, Alex Freeman appears, in addition to Juan Foyth, Santiago Mouriño, and Pau Navarro, who can also play on that side, although they are center-backs by origin.
The Midfield and the Market
The midfield is the most sensitive area. Villarreal CF maintains players like Santi Comesaña and Pape Gueye, although the Senegalese player is still one of the names with a market tag. From there, the club must rebuild an engine room that loses specific weight with the departures of Thomas Partey and Dani Parejo.
Villarreal CF is looking for at least one midfielder in the market, Dani Requena may establish himself in the first team, and Carlos Maciá and Alassane Diatta have their options; and with the rest of the positions, we will have to see what happens with the excess of players who return.
