According to Gol Digital, the groguet coach has already green‑lighted the deal and the sporting director is working on a proposal around €8 million to persuade Independiente. The offer tops the previous Betis bid, which proposed €7 million for 60 % of the rights and a later clause of €2.5 million for an additional 20 %.
Lomónaco, 25, is praised for his ability to close spaces, his one‑on‑one strength and his solid ball‑playing, qualities that fit the style Iñigo Pérez wants to install. His recent switch to the European agency AS1 also eases negotiations and widens his international profile, a factor Villarreal values to compete in the European market.
The potential signing of Lomónaco also hinges on the departure of Pape Gueye, whose sale could free up funds to finalise the deal. If the offer materialises, Villarreal CF would add a centre‑back with Copa Libertadores experience and Argentina U‑23 caps, strengthening a defence that has let in 46 goals this season.
Independiente has not yet responded to the €8 million proposal, so negotiations remain open. Meanwhile, Betis still watches the situation and could launch a counter‑offer.
