Villarreal CF was defeated by FC Barcelona in a LaLiga EA Sports match played at Spotify Camp Nou in February 2026. The fixture, part of the 2025/26 season, featured players such as Santiago Mourino for the Yellow Submarine and Marcus Rashford for the hosts, according to the original report published by Reuters Connect.
Marcelino's team now finds itself in a delicate league position, sitting 15th with just 2 points from three games. Their current record reads zero wins, two draws, and one loss, with a recent form of LDD. They have scored 4 goals and conceded 5, leaving them with a negative goal difference of -1. This places them 7 points adrift of the leaders, Barcelona themselves, in the title race.
The loss at a venue as iconic as Camp Nou shows the challenges Villarreal faces in this early phase of the championship. Every point becomes key to climb the table and move away from the lower reaches. The team needs to quickly find more consistency, especially in defensive play, to reverse this trend. Checking the detailed standings provides a better understanding of the competitive league landscape.
The Reuters Connect report identifies Santiago Mourino as one of the Villarreal CF players who took part in the clash. For the Blaugrana, star forward Marcus Rashford was also on the pitch.
