The 22-year-old central defender from Real Oviedo, Chukwuma Eze, joins Villarreal CF on loan for the upcoming season, with the option to buy. The Nigerian defender renewed his contract with the club until 2029 and will now seek playing time in Villarreal's reserve team, which competes in the Primera Federación.
Eze, who arrived at Real Oviedo in the summer of 2021 from the Nigeria-based Academy Ajuwa, with which the club has a collaboration agreement, made his debut with the first team in 2025 under the orders of Paunovic and played on loan at Avilés last season in the Primera RFEF.
The Villarreal CF is now focusing on releasing Luka Ilic, a Serbian midfielder signed last season, as he does not count for Calero and his salary is too high for the Segunda División.
