Peter Gulacsi's Journey with Leipzig

Peter Gulacsi spent the better part of his career with RB Leipzig, where he made significant contributions and helped the club achieve success. The 36-year-old goalkeeper joined Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2015 and went on to play an impressive 362 matches for the German club. During his time at Leipzig, Gulacsi played a crucial role in the team's promotion to the Bundesliga during his first season with the club. He then made 269 appearances in the top-flight league.

Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Gulacsi has been one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Bundesliga, keeping more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper (94) and making the fourth-most saves (664). His departure from Leipzig after a decade is marked by an emotional farewell video, where he expressed his gratitude to the club and its supporters.

Gulacsi has signed a two-year deal with Villarreal following a reported €2 million transfer fee. The move comes as part of Inigo Perez's squad for the 2026-27 LaLiga season, where he will compete for the number one role alongside Luiz Junior.

Villarreal began their new campaign with three consecutive away games against Racing Santander, Atletico Madrid and Alaves. Their first home match is scheduled for September 5 against Deportivo La Coruna.
